Our mission and primary responsibility is to care for
abandoned, neglected, and abused parrots placed in our care.
What We Do
The Plumery located in Ventura, CA provides a full-service haven for all species of parrots, surrendered by pet owners. A place of safety and serenity, we offer permanent residency, short- or long-term boarding, rehabilitation, and adoption, depending on the needs and well-being of each parrot entrusted to us. We also reach out to communities and organizations often ignored and lacking access to unique educational enrichment opportunities. The Plumery sets the scene for a variety of partnerships among exotic avians, owners, at-risk populations, students, and experts. To all who experience The Plumery, we offer education and resources, fellowship and guidance without judgment.
Who We Are
The Plumery is powered by a dedicated team of board members, advisors, volunteers, foster families, and avian professionals united by a shared passion for parrots and animal welfare.
Our team brings together expertise from across many fields, including avian care, veterinary medicine, animal behavior, nonprofit leadership, education, finance, marketing, communications, fundraising, and community outreach. Just as importantly, we are bird lovers who understand the unique challenges and rewards of sharing our lives with parrots.
Together, we work to provide rescue, rehabilitation, sanctuary, education, and advocacy for parrots in need while building a stronger future for parrots and the people who care for them.
